때로 너무 많은 걸 기대하고,

너무 많은 걸 소유하기 원하고,

너무 많은 걸 이루기 원하는...

이 세상이 영원하지 않음을 알고, 우리의 소망은 천국에 있음을 알면서도,

너무 자주 눈에 보이는 걸 의지해버리고만다.

19 너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫고 도적질하느니라

20 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라 거기는 좀이나 동록이 해하지 못하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫지도 못하고 도적질도 못하느니라

21 네 보물 있는 그 곳에는 네 마음도 있느니라 (마 6: 19-21)

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

37 I will surely gather them from all the lands where I banish them in my furious anger and great wrath; I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety.
38 They will be my people, and I will be their God.

39 I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them.

40 I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.
41 I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.
42 "This is what the LORD says: As I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will give them all the prosperity I have promised them.
43 Once more fields will be bought in this land of which you say, 'It is a desolate waste, without men or animals, for it has been handed over to the Babylonians.'
44 Fields will be bought for silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed and witnessed in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah and in the towns of the hill country, of the western foothills and of the Negev, because I will restore their fortunes, declares the LORD."

예수께서 그 누운 것을 보시고 병이 벌써 오래된 줄 아시고 이르시되 네가 낫고자 하느냐

When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?"

(John 5:6)

베데스다 못 가에 서른 여덟 해 동안이나 누워있던 병자에게 예수님이 하신 첫 말씀.

"네가 낫고자 하느냐"

그 병자는 천사들이 내려와 못을 동하게 할 때 물에 들어가면 나음을 입는다는 말을 믿고 그 못가에 누워있었지만, 그가 못에 내려가기도 전에 이미 다른 병자들이 먼저 내려가 치유를 받곤 하는 것을 여러해동안 지켜보았을 것이다.

이를 알고계셨을 예수님, 적어도 짐작은 하셨을 예수님께서는 그에게 바로 병고침을 선언하시지 않으셨다.

그 전에 그에게 물으셨다.

"네가 낫고자 하느냐"

그 병자는 이 질문에 Yes or No로 대답하지는 않았다.

정황으로 미루어봐서 그 병자는 당연히 낫기를 원했을 것이고, 그랬기에 그 못가에 누워있었을 것이라는 추측을 할 뿐이다.

그렇다면 예수님은 왜 이렇게 당연한 질문을 하셨을까?

아마도 마음 깊은 곳을 들여다보기 원하시는 게 아닐까?

당연히 하나님을 사랑하니까 교회에 나가고,

당연히 섬기고자 하는 마음이 있으니까 봉사를 하고,

당연히 원하는 것이 있으니까 기도로 구하고,

기타 등등...

어느샌가 이 "당연한" 생각들로 인해, 내 깊은 마음속을 점검하지 않은채 살아가고 있지는 않은지!

이 "당연한" 것들에 둘러싸여 본질을 잊고 있는 건 아닌지!

오늘 이 말씀을 통해 내게 물으시는 것 같다.

"네가 낫고자 하느냐?"

"네가 정말 땅끝까지 가서 나를 섬기기 원하느냐? 네가 정말 모든 것을 버려두고 나를 따르기 원하느냐? 네가 정말 네 모든 생각과 사고를 포기하고 성령의 능력으로 내 지혜를 얻기 원하느냐?"

하나님은 우리의 피난처시요 힘이시니 환난 중에 만날 큰 도움이시라
그러므로 땅이 변하든지 산이 흔들려 바다 가운데에 빠지든지
바닷물이 솟아나고 뛰놀든지 그것이 넘침으로 산이 흔들릴지라도 우리는 두려워하지 아니하리로다 (셀라)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah

사랑해요~

"사랑은 여기 있으니 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니요 오직 하나님이 우리를 사랑하사 우리 죄를 위하여 화목제로 그 아들을 보내셨음이니라"(요일 4:10)

너희도 서로 발을 씻기는 것이 옳으니라

너희 말을 항상 은혜 가운데서 소금으로 맛을 냄과 같이 하라 그리하면 각 사람에게 마땅히 대답할 것을 알리라

매일 나누는 수많은 대화 속에,

나는 얼마나 은혜를 끼치고 있을까.

매일 던지는 수많은 말 속에,

나는 얼마나 소금과 같은 말을 내뱉고 있을까.

매 순간 그분의 뜻 안에서 숨쉬고 말할 수 있기를 오늘도 성령에 의지해 간구한다.

당신은
통곡할 필요가 없다.

우리가 생각하는 것보다
더 가까이
